ARTIST STATEMENT
I am mainly interested is animalistics, primitive cultures and prehistoric times.

Animals occupy a special place in my work, because they belong to a more authentic and accepting world, where there is spontaneity and direct self-expression. The animal world is surprisingly diverse. I am interested in bizarre animals, ancient, extinct or rare. In their uniqueness, animals can manifest themselves naturally and sincerely. I felt being friends with animals since childhood. I am very touched by the stories where people save animals, give them their care and then return them to the wild.

In sculpture, I strive for a recognizable image of an animal, but also explores a generalized form which simplifies the image to the very characteristic features. I find inspiration in rock art and artifacts of primitive cultures. The world that existed sometime, for me is a connection with a deep part of my inner world, a preverbal primitive "warm" reality. I emphasize the rich relief of chamotte clay, which makes the works resemble ancient stones. Collapsing textures show the flow of time, as if the objects were found in excavations and belong to the distant past. The sculptures give the impression of something primordial, ancient and timeless, not man-made.
